Warbles, flourishes, right foot and eye on the canvas // Mother’s whisper and the train’s

Practicing distance from the world. From the virus. From the other’s time
I’ve dug my feet on the ground
Smell the morning as the light ceases sleep, not sound
There is a taste in the cold air of the morning
The mother tongue melds with this wooden cabin, these wooden people, this wooden bed – this cedar sound
I don’t know if it’s running – vanishing point
If it recognizes me – meeting point

Street artists in a solo concert – hue and lights
Small agressions in the dispute of a frivolous life
Faces and voices, smell of benzene
Monuments of blood-stained horses and the pigeons – hue and chaos
Your thighs
Smiles in strange bodies
Parade, they dance, taken by sweat and madness
Your teeth
Amassing the bodies in strange chairs
Bite, they break, become voice and madness
I no longer watch the credits
The white text against that all-confounding darkness
Colorless film, without focus, without script
If my thighs or your thighs – directionless
If my teeth on your thighs – carve the flesh – meaningless step
Pieces of meat the colour of blood or bush or sea
I don’t understand the urban lights in the black and white negative
When to follow, when to stop
Whom to give right of way
I cross the street of your house
In a battle of internal castles

Marco Antonio Santos is a guitarist, arranger, composer, and music educator. Originally from Minas Gerais, Brazil, he is
currently based in Austin, Texas.
Santos has performed extensively in Brazil and the United States, navigating freely between jazz, funk, pop, and Brazilian music.
In spring 2023, ears&eyes Records will release Santos’s debut album, About: Silence.
